Rema Biography And Net Worth

Rema Biography

Divine Ikubor is his real name. Porpularly known by his stage name, Rema, he is a songwriter, rapper, singer, stage performer and a model. Rema got signed to Don Jazzy's Mavins records on the 22nd of March, 2019. He was the first artist to be signed by the label after their multi-dollar investment with the Kubanda Holdings.

Rema is of a very young age being born in 2000 in Benin City, Edo State which is in the South Southern part of Nigeria. Alongside his young age, he is a very talented, skillful and creative artiste who has risen and surpassed great standards in just few months.

Rema lived his early life in Benin City rapping in local churches and schools at a very tender age. Rema while still in school moved on to create his own live band and not so long until he was discovered by D’Prince who is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Jonzingworld Record and also the immediate younger brother to Nigerian billionaire artiste and producer Don Jazzy, who is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mavin Records.

Rema has been making music in Benin since he was 11, starting out as a rapper in a church group but eventually changing his sound to fit the popular sound in his community. “They told me if I want to make it to Lagos, I have to sound commercial. I tried to vibe to it but I wasn’t really good at it.” Eventually, his fondness for subverting the conventional and drive to be distinct led him to look to social media where his hip-hop leanings were more appreciated, sharing free verses and partaking in music challenges to grow his audience online. It was D’Prince’s “Gucci Gang” challenge, and the 1-minute freestyle that got Rema the attention of his new label boss.

“I remember being bored on that Thursday. I’m just happy my eyes were open to the opportunity because I actually wanted to scroll past it. I had never freestyled over any Nigerian beat before then.”

D’Prince liked Rema’s entry enough to ask him to come over to Lagos and has since helped the young talent hone his Afro-Pop sound – something that he himself had to do when linking up with Mo’Hits way back when.

According to the words of Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy; “Rema is a formidable young artist. With his skill and versatility, he has a unique place in the future of Afro beats. At the same time, we are excited to launch our first imprint deal with Jonzing World” Don Jazzy revealed this during a press briefing.

Rema's Ep topped multiple charts. Songs from the EP are Iron Man, Dumebi, Corny and Why. "Dumebi" which was the most successful of all was number one on music platforms for a whole lot of weeks.

According to Rema, The way D'prince tells it, the beat for Dumebi had been refused by three big artists he spared the embarrassment of naming. When he heard it, he freestyled to it on the spot, hoping to return to add finishing touches later. But to his surprise, D’Prince liked the raw vibe of the song. “He said I didn’t need to put actual words. He said I could leave it and I agreed since I wanted to sound different anyway. A lot of things don’t make sense on the song but it’s number one on iTunes. It’s crazy.”

Rema was also an inclusion in the recent sound All is in order which included Don Jazzy, Korede Bello and the latest Mavins signing Crayon.

Rema net worth 2019 (Rema Biography )
Rema has made a lot of money over the months due to his great sounds. His net worth is estimated at around $50,000.
